Sarasota
Sarasota county covers the area North of Venus Florida up to University Parkway and the Sarasota Bradenton Airport to the north. The area has many artificial and natural reefs from M14 in the south to the various inshore fishing reefs like Fisher reef in the North. Reef are in three categories, Inshore (I), Medium (M) and Deep (MD). Each reef description will tell you the distance from a well know landmark so you can get a good idea how far out it is.

M1 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.23 mile square and consists of a 110' x 30' barge put down in 1987 and over a thousand tons of concrete culvers put down starting in 1993. M10 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.14 x 0.2 mile area. The reef consists of a large upside down barge with the both sides open and a small fiberglass boat on the north west side. M11 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a .16 mile square area. The reef consists of hundreds of concrete reef balls put down in 2001 and have a relief of 2 to 3 feet. This site is 17.6 miles @ 239 degrees from Venice Inlet. The water depths here are in the 70 foot range. and have a maximum relief of 2.6 feet off the bottom. Learn More -
M13 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a .14 mile square area. The reef consists of 350 tons of concrete culverts put down in 1997 and additional tons of concrete culverts put down post 1998. This site is 13.3 miles @ 178 degrees from the Venice Inlet and 7.7 miles @ 281 degrees from Stump Pass. M14 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 460 foot square area. The reef consists of hundreds of tons of concrete culverts put down in 2007. This site is 16.8 miles @ 173 degrees from the Venice Inlet and 6.3 miles @ 253 degrees from Stump Pass. M15 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.1 mile square area. The reef consists of 2200 tons of concrete culverts and rubble, some mixer drums put down in 1991. M16 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.3 mile square area. The reef consists of 785 tons of concrete culverts, catch basins and beams and was put down in 1994. M17 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.21 x .3 mile area. The reef consists of concrete culverts and 120 reef balls put down in 1995. M4 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.15 mile square which consists of over 500 tons of concrete rubble and 318 concrete reefballs put down starting in 1991. This site is 9.6 miles @236 degrees from New Pass. The water depths here are in the 42 foot range. These deeper reefs will attract larger fish than the shallow reefs. Learn More -
M5 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 500 foot square which consists of consists of 600 tons or oval and round concrete culverts put down in 1994 . This site is 10.8 miles @ 228 degrees from New Pass. The water depths here are in the 40 foot range and has a maximum relief of 17 feet off the bottom. Learn More -
M6 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.15 x .026 mile area and consists of 1222 tons of concrete culverts put down in 1989 and tons of other concrete culverts put down post 1990. M7 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.23 mile square area. The reef consists of 10 old railroad boxcars and 600 tons of concrete culverts put down in 1995. Additional tons of concrete culverts and boxcars were put down post 1995. This site is 13.7 miles @ 253 degrees from New Pass. M8 Reef$2.99This is an artificial reef covering a 0.42 mile square area. The reef consists of a steel landing craft put down in 1985, 20 steel boxcars which were put down in 1988 and and 5 army M60 tanks put down in 1995. This site is close to shore at 2.6 miles @ 163 degrees from Venice Inlet and .31 miles @ 253 degrees from the beach near the Venice Airport. The water depths here are in the 22 foot range.
